The United Methodist Church will be launching a “Praying Our Way Forward” initiative on the New Year’s Day with a 75 weeks of focused prayer before the revision of Book of Discipline on human sexuality.

I tried to erase that image with the thought that missions must continue in that country, but I was truly humbled as I was reading a letter from a missionary who has traveled over 60 times to Afghanistan since 2003 and, for over 13 years, ministering to the country’s starved and poor.

Woori Church of New York will be on a mission trip from December 27 to January 2 in Haiti. The church, after starting its Haiti mission trips in 2013, has chosen the busiest time of the year during the holiday seasons to embark on the mission trip, carrying the love and gifts of Christmas to the Haiti natives.
The Korean Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign, which began in mid-November in Los Angeles, concluded on Christmas Eve. This year, the group was able to raise $48,000, almost as much as its goal of $50,000. To note, last year, the group raised $40,000.
