Julia Roberts has been officially revealed as the newest face of Givenchy. In the fashion brand's Spring 2015 androgynous lineup, the world renowned actress has been chosen to represent the brand.

Moreover, the 47-year-old star has been reportedly handpicked by Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of the renowned and highly acclaimed French fashion house. In the SS15 campaign poster recently released by the prominent fashion company, Roberts is featured wearing a black and white ensemble.

According to Tisci, the brand Givenchy has always been stereotyped to exclusively cater to people interested in 'haute couture', as well as to those who look for clothes falling the 'street and urban' category. The decision of the celebrated fashion house to choose Roberts as the front man for their 2015 collection showed the company's desire to open its brand to the rest of the fashion world. By banking on the 'Pretty Woman' actress' appeal and the public's perception of her sense of style, Givenchy aims to become more inclusive when it comes to offering their line.

"She has this strength as an actress, but she's also this beautiful American woman. She's a big star, but she's not a paparazzi or a blog monster. It's going to be my tenth year at Givenchy in March, so I wanted to represent the woman who is more mature, beautiful, talented, but also unpretentious," Tisci explained.

The campaign posters for Roberts' revealed a different version of the actress. Wearing a boyish blazer, dark shirt, and suit trousers, the woman pictured in the photographs is a far cry from the role she played in the 90s hit movie 'Pretty Woman'. Apart from the scrubbed up look, the pictures had one notable thing missing -- her trademark megawatt smile.

Tisci, in explaining the decision to rid of the highly popular smile, disclosed that while he admired that actress' trademark look, he wanted to highlight a different side of her in the photos.

"She has the most beautiful smile in the world and I love it, but it's Julia's sensibility that interests me," Tisci revealed. "I fell in love with her because she's a strong woman, but she's also fragile. I also love her intellectual side. So for me, the Julia in these pictures is the real one you see every day. They're really honest portraits of her," he added.

This perception was further reflected in the fashion house's campaign slogan pertaining to their latest muse, which says, "As the embodiment of the Givenchy woman, Julia showcases all facets of that character with strength and eternal style."
