MSN Apps for News, Sports and More Released for iOS, Android and Amazon

Microsoft introduced a selection of MSN mobile applications that can run on iOS, Android and Amazon devices.

Originally made available for Windows 8 and Windows Phone devices free of charge, the collection includes MSN-branded apps for News, Weather, Sports, Money, Health & Fitness, and Food & Drink. Users can now get their hands on the said apps on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.

In a statement from Microsoft in September. the tech giant promised to reestablish and distribute the rebranded apps to various platforms before the end of 2014. With the MSN brand reportedly having more than 400 million users at present, it has been widely recognized as a relevant news and content provider, as opposed to a search engine platform.

The new apps have been customized to make the most of the features offered in the different platforms. The Health & Fitness app for iOS, for instance, has been made compatible with the HealthKit Program by Apple.

To briefly describe the apps, the MSN News brings news content from major sources, such as CNN and the New York Times to enable individuals to read the content in a more convenient and user-friendly manner.

The MSN Weather offers details on forecasts as well as real-time weather alerts whereas MSN Sports offers news, scores and other updates from local and international leagues.

Fitness enthusiasts are also expected to enjoy the MSN Health & Fitness app as they can obtain health-related news and workout advices while monitoring their workouts and diets. In relation, the Food & Drink app offers tips, recipes and videos for cooking.

For those who are looking forward to ther daily dose of financial news, MSN Money will enable users to make the most of relevant tools and generate a watchlist for mutual funds and other investment funds.

Finally, the MSN Travel will allow travel aficionados to look for hotels and flights as well as check out reviews of the best places to travel to. However, this app is currently restricted to Windows only.

Microsoft also reminded the public that personalization of the said apps is also allowed. This can help users sort out and customize their information based on their interests and other preferred content. If users switch between different devices, the syncing of their preferences is still guaranteed regardless of the platform used.

"Whether it's your Watchlist, your favorite teams and sports, your news topics, your favorite weather locations or your favorite recipes and shopping lists, all your information will be available to you regardless of what device you're on," Suzanne Choney from Microsoft News Center stated.
