'Jurassic World' Cast, Plot & Dinosaurs: Indominus Rex Unveiled, Trailer Coming Out at Super Bowl 2015

One of the most exciting things about the 2015 flick Jurassic World is the introduction of a new dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, formerly known as the Disbolus Rex.

According to the Jurassic World website, the name of the new dinosaur means fierce or untameable king. It is currently 12 meters in size and is a product of the Hammond Creation Lab. Although other details about the dinosaur are held under wraps, reports said that the I-Rex also has genetic material from the Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus.

"We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered. At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs," the site said.

It added that the Indominus' fearsome roar is estimated to reach 140 to 160 decibels - the same sound created by a Boeing 747 plane when taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 mph even while confined to its enclosure.

Another interesting tidbit about the dinosaur is that its teeth are constantly replaced, a distinction common to all Theropods as well as nearly all sharks.

Jurassic World, which is directed by Colin Trevorrow, will hit theaters on June 12. The director said that the new movie will be a leap from the previous Jurassic Park movie installments.

"We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story," he said.

Jurassic World will star Chris Pratt as Owen, an on-site staff member of Jurassic World, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire, the park's operation manager.

Other cast and park members include Vincent D'Onofrio as Vic Hoskins, head of security operations for Ingen, Jake Johnson as Lowery, Nick Robinsons as Zach, Ty Simpkins as Gray, BD Wong as chief geneticist Dr. Henry Wu, Irrfan Khan as Simon Masrani, and Brian Tee as Katashi Hamada, a member of ACU group of security guards.

The first trailer of the film was shown on November 25, 2014 and the new trailer will air during the Super Bowl XLIX on February 1, 2015.
