MacBook 'Stealth' Could Actually Be Rumored iPad Pro, Says Report

After more than a year of rumors, Apple may finally unveil a brand new MacBook Air model powered by a Retina display.

However, a new report indicated that the alleged ultra-thin laptop could actually be the equally intriguing iPad Pro.

According to a report by Tech Radar, the two devices have striking similarities based on their rumored specs and features. In the report, the new MacBook Air will reportedly pack a 12-inch screen with Retina display - something that has been on the wishlist of MacBook Air fans since the technology became available to the MacBook Pro in 2012.

Interestingly, previous rumors pointed to the iPad Pro's 12.9-inch screen, which is still fit as a MacBook Air lid. This could mean Apple might just be planning to hit two birds with one stone - a single device that could serve both laptop and tablet consumers well.

A recent report from 9to5mac also claimed that the new MacBook laptop is dubbed 'Stealth' and will pack 12 inches of screen as opposed to the current models which have 11.6" and 13.3" displays respectively.

In addition to the new screen size, the report also suggested that the device will be smaller in frame compared to the 11" MacBook Air. Other changes that Apple will reportedly make include the ports that come with the device.

Last year, there were rumors that claimed that the iPad Pro is in fact a hybrid of a laptop and tablet, like the Surface Pro from Microsoft.

While that particular rumor has died down by the end of 2014, it is now in full swing yet again with the Tech Radar report. Because the technology industry is moving towards mobile devices rather than conventional laptops, Apple may try to provide a device that brings the best of both worlds.

Some of the rumored specs of the MacBook Air with Retina display include Intel's Broadwell chipset which is even more power efficient than Haswell, a thinner frame, fan-less design and even a metal Apple logo, which means the light-up logo will be phased out.

Meanwhile, the iPad Pro will allegedly pack a 12.9-inch screen, four speaker outputs based on a recent iPad case leak, and the latest chipsets from Apple.
