Hello Kitty fans rejoice. EVA Airways' Hello Kitty plane will be flying to Paris again soon and has announced regular trips to Taipei and Singapore this year.
Starting June 21, the much awaited Hello Kitty-themed jet will be flying from Singapore to Taipei every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, and from Taipei to Singapore. Tuesday flights will be added onto the schedule starting July 1.
"After experiencing an overwhelming demand of our Hello Kitty jets when we introduced chartered flights between Singapore and Taipei earlier this year, we knew Singapore had to be our first destination in Southeast Asia to host our next Hello Kitty themed aircraft. As Singapore is a popular tourism hub, we are proud to be able to extend our flight expansion plans into Singapore," EVA Air President Austin Cheng said.
Cheng also mentioned how his team is trying to "make flying fun" and not just a simple trip from one airport to another. The experience, says Cheng, starts at the check-in counter. He also said that their vision is for everyone, Hello Kitty fan or not, to be in awe with the Hello Kitty-themed jets.
The adorable plane has six themes: the Sanrio Family, Magic Star, Happy Music, Speed Puff, Loves Apple, and Magic Stars/Around the World. The jets have already flown to several Asian destinations such as Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Guam, Mainland China, and Paris.
The Hello Kitty theme does not start and end with the jets' outside paint. Even the bathrooms were not spared from the Sanrio-kitty theme that even tissue rolls had Hello Kitty prints on them. The food and drinking cups are also Kitty-inspired.
Apparently, there is a story behind every Hello Kitty-themed jet.
For instance, the Hello Kitty Around the World theme, which is the global jet, is about Hello Kitty and friends touring the world.
Meanwhile, the Loves Apples jet shows how the little cat from Japan loves, well, apples. According to EVA's Hello Kitty website, Hello Kitty is 'five apples tall,' and its favorite food is homemade apple pie baked by her mother.
