Soul Surfer Bethany Hamilton is Pregnant With First Child

The star of the film "Soul Surfer" Bethany Hamilton is pregnant with her first child!

Hamilton, 25 made the announcement with her husband Adam Dirks in a video. Clad in a simple black tank, the glowing Hamilton happily said, "So we have a little surprise for you...baby on board!"

Her husband, sporting a blue shirt and a cap confirmed, "She's pregnant"

"In baby terms I'm about 22 weeks, which is about halfway there," added Hamilton. "It's been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we're gonna be parents. Life's kinda gonna be changing and kinda just starting to prep for bringing a new little being into the world. It's all really exciting."

The couple did announce the gender of the first child, and it's a boy! They also shared that they are on the lookout for a good boy name.

"We found out it's a boy so we're looking for boy names. We've got a few in mind," said Dirks.

Even the pregnancy hasn't kept Hamilton out of the water. She said that she's staying super fit throughout the pregnancy by continuing to enjoy her sport.

"I've been surfing throughout my whole pregnancy," she shared. "I plan to surf as long as I can. Once the belly's pretty big maybe just like mellow it out and spend more time swimming and just enjoying the ocean and doing other activities."

The couple got married back in August 2013 with an intimate Hawaiian ceremony near their home. They first met on the beach in spring 2012 on "somewhat of a blind date," said Hamilton. Funnily enough, the two even jumped off a cliff together during their first meeting.

The two have been inseparable since then and Dirks, a Christian youth minister asked for Hamilton's hand in marriage on April 9.

"I just feel really blessed to be able to spend my life with him," Hamilton said.

Since their marriage, Hamilton and Dirks even participated in The Amazing Race 25.

Food scientists Amy DeJong and Maya Warren won the race, but Hamilton and her husband managed to do well in the challenging race since they came in at third place.

"I hope Adam and I have a fun time adventuring in different countries and doing challenges. I hope we can have great teamwork and communication. I just want to have a blast!" she said about the race.

For his part, Dirks said that he hoped it would test their relationship, draw them closer, and strengthen their marriage.
