Chang-Hwan Park, the director of Underwood University’s Mission Center, held a mission seminar series from Feb. 9, starting 10 AM. Despite the rain and bad weather lately in Atlanta area, the seminar hall was packed with students and pastors who wanted to listen to Park’s insight.
Park’s seminars were based on the theme, “God’s Mission, and Man’s Responsibility,” and carried out his seminars passionately until 3 PM that day.
“The church is a holy people and a separated people,” said Park, a world-renowned theologist. “We’ve been given divine eyes with the wisdom and authority of God’s spirit, scientific eyes, and intelligent eyes. Through this, God desires that His children take a leading role in fulfilling His beautiful kingdom, and living a mission-oriented lifestyle. I hope that we as the church will not just live by what we see but that we will realize and remember that the truth has set us free.”
“When pastors are ordained, they say that they receive the gift of prophecy, and this means that ‘they have received the ability to realize the power of God and carry it out,’ further meaning that they are able to see what others cannot see, hear what others cannot hear, and say what others cannot say,” Park continued. “Pastors have the responsibility to pray and serve the people by preaching (Acts 6:4). The church must pray, support, and encourage pastors that they would be servants who study and teach the Word sincerely and accurately.”
“The Bible is God’s mission report. Our purpose for mission is that the name of God our Creator would be hallowed, regarded as holy, and that through mission, more people would come to know and experience God,” Park went on.
“We are people who depend on God, but we often neglect his majesty and might just because we can’t physically see Him. God will carry out the work of His kingdom. And until the end, God gives us the privilege and honor of being His partners in missions. Let us come to know Jesus rightly, and believe in Him rightly. Then let us be filled with the Holy Spirit, and give our entire lives to serve as His faithful partners and instruments. Missions was started by God at the beginning of creation, and He will finish it at the end of the times. And all glory will go to God.”
