'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers: Creator Robert Kirkman Says Maggie and Daryl Will Suffer Most

With the "The Walking Dead' midseason premiere bringing on the most shocking moments including the death of a major character, show creator Robert Kirkman shares that future episodes will bring difficult times to both Maggie and Daryl.

Following Beth's death, Maggie will realize that she has lost her family one by one beginning from season two up to season five. While Glenn remains on her side, Maggie is expected to deal with the fact that the other surviving member of the Greene family died unexpectedly.

Kirkman also pointed out that what makes it more difficult for Maggie was the fleeting moment when she was relieved to know that Beth was still alive. However, after finding out that her sister met the opposite fate, Maggie will have to deal with such a disheartening turn of events.

The 36-year-old writer further said that putting out Beth's character for the world to see serves as a reminder that such circumstances are inevitable and that preparing for the worst may not exactly get the results that Rick's company is seeking.

"Danger still lurks around every corner and no amount of preparedness can prepare you for everything," Kirkman said. "There are random acts, there are things that are out of your control that will happen."

Meanwhile, the death of Beth may also have a considerable impact on Daryl, who is expected to stay distant from the group as what he had done in the past. In previous episodes, he had become attached to Beth after being able to open up to her.

"I think we'll definitely see a big shift in the way he interacts with everybody moving forward," Kirkman said, pointing towards Daryl's possible behaviors in the next episodes.

When asked about a possible reunion between Rick and Morgan, the comic book writer did not confirm that the two characters will be meeting up again. However, he dropped a hint that Morgan may still appear in future episodes and may come across Rick's company, saying: "So while I will not confirm that Morgan will eventually meet up with our characters, I will say that it would be a misstep on our part if he didn't."

Finally, it remains a common question as to how many new characters the series will be adding to the story. Kirkman confirmed that several of these will be adapted directly from the comic, referring to this as "very exciting."

Consequently, "Walking Dead' fans will be able to have a look at characters that have been derived from the comic itself. While some will be presented with the personalities that have been embedded in them in the comic, others will be incorporated with interesting tweaks.

On the whole, Kirkman concludes that "Walking Dead' fans who are relying on the comic to predict what is coming in future episodes will definitely be surprised.

"There are a lot of changes, a lot of differences, a lot of curve balls coming up," Kirkman teased.
