With all the hype surrounding the release of "Wolverine 3', the return of Hugh Jackman to the franchise is yet to be officially confirmed. The actor recently discussed the project and revealed that a crossover of certain story elements from "Wolverine 3' and "X-Men: Apocalypse' may actually happen.

"Apocalypse' will be highlighting events that happened ten years after "X-Men: Days of Future Past' in which a large group of mutants was featured. While fans assumed that such film would be the final cut for key characters such as Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart), film director Bryan Singer explained that Magneto will definitely make an appearance in "Apocalypse.'

Even Stewart dropped a hint that his Professor X character will be featured in "Wolverine 3'.

As he promoted his newest movie, "Chappie', Jackman did not directly confirm whether Stewart would be appearing in "Wolverine 3'. He stated: "Let's just say, I'd be thrilled if he was part of it because I think that relationship is key, it's one of the keys. It was the key at the beginning and I think there's a long way to go."

While no official confirmations have been made, numerous movie news sites including ScreenRant have mentioned that the relationship between Wolverine and Professor X remains crucial to the story and will still be deemed as strong ground for the franchise's development.

Jackman further explained that, while it is still an early time to discuss the progress being made for "Wolverine 3', the team behind the film will be drawing out some of the concepts from the comic books.

"It does draw on some comic book stuff," the actor shared. "There are some things, but in typical fashion sort of one main one with a few bits here and there and then opening it up."

Finally, following the news that Spider-Man will be playing a key role in the Marvel Universe together with the Avengers, Jackman expressed his excitement about the idea.

"I like to think there's that possibility for all of it, and I would even like to think more that it doesn't happen out of necessity, y'know, when someone's run it into the ground or something," Jackman said. "I optimistically love the idea of "What the hell, Batman versus Iron Man versus Wolverine!" Let's just chuck "em in."

While "Wolverine 3' remains to be an unofficial title, the film is expected to be released on March 3, 2017. "X-Men: Apocalypse' will be released at an earlier date on May 27, 2016.

Other films from Marvel that have been given official release dates include the "Fantastic Four' to hit theaters on August 7, 2015, "Gambit' on October 7, 2016, "Fantastic Four 2' on July 14, 2017 and an untitled X-Men film on July 13, 2018.
