Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G3 Released, Brings New Features & Improve Performance

For LG G3 users for Sprint who have been waiting for the Android 5.0 Lollipop release date for months, the device is reportedly beginning to receive the update.

According to a report by Android Police, the latest version of Android is currently rolling out to LG G3 devices under the Sprint network.

Interestingly, Android Police reportedly received a rumor several weeks ago that Lollipop will hit Sprint yesterday, and fortunately the rumor was spot on. For LG G3 owners who have not yet upgraded to Lollipop and are wary of the changes that will take place once they hit the update button, here are some of the changes.

In the report, Android 5.0 Lollipop will reportedly provide Google's Material Design. This will make the user interface smoother than ever before, as well as support multi-colored themes and 3D view.

In addition, the notification bar on top of the homescreen will not only be the sole source of notifications, alerts and others. In the report, Lollipop will also enable the lockscreen to display app notifications and the details that will show up in the lockscreen can be managed in settings.

Other additions by Android Lollipop is the support for Android TV, an updated lockscreen that will feature new functions, better accessibility options for people who are blind or have poor hearing, and enhanced messaging using Google Hangouts. The messaging app will be replaced by Google Hangouts by default.

For Android users who are always on the go, Android 5.0 will also bring better support and functionality for location-based apps and features such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. The OS will now detect whether the function of these apps and features are putting a huge toll on the device's battery usage.

Last but not the least, the new update will allow some Google apps to store files and images online through a better and improved Google Mobile Service. As a result, users will be able to automatically access their images in Google Docs.

Other devices that have received the Android Lollipop treatment include the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, the Motorola Moto X (2014), Moto G (2014), and some flagships from previous years such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One M7.

Last week, Google has announced a new version for Android Lollipop, the 5.1 update that aims to fix some issues, bugs and performance problems for the current version. The update has already rolled out to the Nexus lineup, while other devices that are running on Lollipop are expected to get it by the end of the month.
