Talk about an intense attachment!

Australian actor Hugh Jackman said that he wants to play the role of Wolverine until he dies, according Cigar Aficionado.

Jackman said that watching the film Birdman inspired something in him, and the moral lesson he learned from the movie is to keep portraying the role he has done justice to in several films already.

"I said to my wife, 'The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.' I know that someday they'll recast the role with another actor...I'd be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."

The buff actor said that he likes to challenge himself and push himself to the limit every time he reprises the role of Wolverine, since he is constantly motivating himself to keep on improving.

"I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. I don't believe in stagnation. People say they try to maintain the status quo. But I believe the natural cycle means you're either advancing and getting closer to something or you're receding...Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally."

Though his role in X-Men: Apocalypse has not been confirmed yet, Jackman teased that he might return. The movie is slated for release on May 23, 2016.

Meawhile, the third Wolverine film is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017, which would see his character Logan team up with Professor Xavier. The film's script would come from David James Kelly while James Mangold will once again be directing the Wolverine movie.

Jackman said that he is ready to take on new adventures though he does not know yet what his next one will be.

"I respond to what comes my way. If you asked me which plays or musicals I'd like to do, well, I know there are lots of them but what's next? I have no idea what it is," he said.

There is another Hollywood actor who also played a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who does not want to see Jackman replaced as Wolverine, and that is new dad and hunk Ryan Reynolds, who is set to play the lead role in the Deadpool movie.

He told E! News that Jackman is "so nice he makes ice cream look like the Manson family...I don't want to canonize the guy, but he's like a living, breathing saint."
