Cartoon Network Series 'Adventure Time' Is Getting A Movie; Release Date Still to Be Announced

Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time' has gained considerable popularity for following the adventures of a 12-year-old boy named Finn and his best friend dog, Jake.

Recognized as one of the most popular shows on the network, "Adventure Time' is currently being developed at Warner Bros. as an animated feature film.

As such, fans will get to see Finn and Jake fighting it out with Ice King and other villainous characters in the Land of Ooo on the big screen. Chris McKay and Roy Lee have been set to produce the upcoming film.

McKay also worked as an executive producer for the blockbuster film "The Lego Movie' and was recently asked to take the director's chair for Warner Bros. "The Lego Batman Movie.' The Emmy award-winning producer was also recognized for his work on the TV comedy series "Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III.'

Alongside McKay, Lee also produced "The Lego Movie' and is currently producing "The Lego Batman Movie.' McKay and Lee's 'Lego' blockbuster smashed box office records when it raked in $69M for Warner Bros. Since its debut, 'The Lego Movie' has made a total gross of $468.7M worldwide.

These "Lego Movie' filmmakers have also worked on ninja-themed LEGO product line "Ninjago', which has been adapted for a TV animated series by Cartoon Network.

Meanwhile, the animation studio will still actively collaborate with Warner Bros. and take part in the production of the upcoming "Adventure Time' film. Series creator Peddleton Ward will also reportedly contribute to writing and production.

The fantasy series "Adventure Time' has become highly popular among kids and adults alike, thanks to its populare characters ranging from scientist-inventor Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, the floating purple Lumpy Space Princess, and living video game console BMO, among others.

Several famous personalities have lent their voices to the series, including George Takei ("Mulan', "Star Trek: The Animated Series'), Paul Reubens ("Pee-Wee's Big Adventures'), Neil Patrick Harris ("The Smurfs', "How I Met Your Mother'), and Andy Samberg ("Hotel Transylvania', "Brooklyn Nine-Nine').

Meanwhile, anothera animated feature film is currently in the works at the Warner Bros. studio. "The Lego Movie' sequel, to be directed by Ron Schrab, has been set for an official release in 2018.

While this will be Schrab's first feature film as director, he has previously worked on popular TV comedies such as "The Sarah Silverman Program', "Community' and "The Mindy Project.'

The directors of the first movie, Philip Lord and Christopher Miller, will still participate in the project as writers and producers.
