Android 5.0 Lollipop Smartphone from Acer Unveiled

Acer has finally unveiled the two latest smartphones from its Z-series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, which is currently ongoing at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain and will end on March 5.

The Liquid Z520 and Liquid Z220 smartphones are two of the newest mobile devices from Acer that are both stylish and packed with impressive features.

Moreover, the Z220 is Acer's first smartphone to be released with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.

"The stylish Z220 all-rounder primed for feature phone upgraders, party-goers or basic silver surfers on the go in an incredibly slim-yet feature-packed mobile device," Acer shared in an official press release. "The Z520 all-rounder primed for media fans seeking a blend of style and functionality, completes the duo."

The Z520 is clearly the bigger smartphone and is expected to offer "all-round high entertainment." The phablet comes with a 5-inch display that provides a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

The device packs in a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, which is clocked at 1.3GHz. It also comes with 1GB of RAM as well as 32GB of internal storage, with users having the option to expand the memory using a microSD card. However, it remains unconfirmed as to how much the memory can be expanded.

The Z520 comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that has LED flash and autofocus capabilities; it also features a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Interestingly, the snapper is capable of providing a highly convenient selfie experience to owners as it is voice-activated. Users only need to speak the instruction for the photo to be captured hands-free.

Additionally, the new Z-series smartphone features DTS Studio Sound that generates a pulsating sound experience for both music and video enthusiasts. As such, improvements in terms of clarity and sound field can be expected.

Out of the box, the Z520 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and will be made available for a starting price of approximately $120.

Meanwhile, the Z220 is likely to appeal to all age groups because it can serve as a secondary smartphone for those who prefer to have another device, aside from their premium phone.

This Android smartphone features a 4-inch WVGA screen and is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor that is clocked at 1.2GHz. The Z220 will also offer 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

This new dual-SIM phone comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera which offers an 89 degree-wide angle view as well as flash capabilities; it also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera just like the Z520. The Z220 includes an exposure control feature that will allow users to alter and control both the focus and brightness of a subject, resulting to enhanced images.

Because the Z220 is expected to come with the new Android 5.0 Lollipop, this 3G smartphone is expected to retail for approximately $100.
