Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Rumors, Specs & Release Date: New-Gen Phablet Tipped To Boast Dual-Edge Display

Samsung definitely exceeded expectations with its new Galaxy S6 smartphone, which it announced earlier this week at the MWC 2015.

In addition to the basic flagship model, the Korean tech giant has also brought its new Galaxy S6 Edge into broad daylight. Boasting identical specs to the Galaxy S6, the S6 Edge has one unique feature - its curved screen.

And for people who missed the event and think that Samsung just made a smaller Galaxy Note Edge, they are terribly mistaken.

The Galaxy S6 does not have a single curved edge, but two of them on either side. It also helps that the device is now made up of premium materials such as durable glass and metal.

Now, in a new report by GSM Arena, the next big thing for Samsung this year may get a dual curved screen as well. Indeed, the Korean manufacturer's pride and joy is the Galaxy Note series, which it announces and releases every year just before the holiday season.

In the report, a VP for Samsung's Product Strategy department confirmed that the company may use the dual curved display technology in its other future phones, particularly the next Galaxy Note device.

However, if that's the case, then it would be sensical for Samsung to release just a single Galaxy Note smartphone, and not two just like what it did last year.

Samsung has not been doing well in the Asian market, particularly during the final quarter of 2014, where it was overrun by local Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi. The new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices reportedly cost more than $700, and while the two handsets are screeming premium and quality construction, the pricing is a bit high for the Asian market.

We'll see whether Samsung did a good job in regaining its lost market share.
