If there is anything bad fans can get out of the latest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, it's the fact that there is a huge possibility that one of its major characters will die.

Writer and director Joss Whedon has a propensity to kill off major characters in his films. In the first Avengers film, he sacrificed Agent Coulson after they were trying to bring the group of superheroes together. Therefore, another sacrifice in the new Avengers film is a safe bet.

The eagle-eyed and observant team behind Cinema Blend noticed in two minute and 18 seconds trailer that the trio of Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man are looking quite grim as they are discussing their prospects. "No way we all get through this," said Stark. Captain America then replies, "I got no plans tomorrow night."

And after a bit of logical thinking, the team decided that the sacrificial lamb for Avengers: Age of Ultron will be no other than the green monster Hulk, also known as Dr. Bruce Banner.

The trailer suggests that it could either be Cap, Hulk, or Stark. But it's not yet Cap's turn to die since he will star in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War. Marvel definitely won't kill off its most bankable superhero, which is Iron Man, and he has been guaranteed a cameo in Cap's movie next year and it is quite possible he will be joining the new Spider-Man as well.

So that leaves Hulk with no upcoming movie or cameo. The actor who plays him, Mark Ruffalo, even doubted whether or not Hulk will even get a solo movie since all the previous ones starring Eric Bana and others have flopped.

Additionally, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told Whedon that Hulk will never again venture outside of the Avengers.

It would be sad to lose Hulk, since the trailer suggests that there is a possible romance blooming between him and fellow Avengers member Black Widow, who is played by Scarlett Johansson. Should there be a romance, it would definitely be a heart-gripping scene for it to be cut short.

In the earlier Avengers film, Hulk almost killed Black Widow in the Helicarrier but was stopped at the last minute. It was also the Black Widow who recruited Banner into the Avengers team, and even then a noticeable spark has developed between the two.

The only question that remains now is how the Hulk will be killed, given that he's basically indestructible.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will be shown in cinemas on May 1, 2015.
