Jurassic World Sequel Already in the Works?

Jurassic World

Jurassic World has not even been released yet but news about its sequel and its production stage have already begun to surface.

Universal Pictures seem to be very confident about its dinosaur film's success that they are already projecting high box office numbers and thinking about its sequel, according to the Jurassic World website.

Producers seem pleased with what director Colin Trevorrow did in Jurassic World, which went through "twelve years in development hell." But the fourth Jurassic Park film's long delay seem to have its upside too, since people are eager for its release and a lot of fans are lauding the film's new direction.

Others, on the other hand, are just thrilled to be returning to Nublar.

Within just one week, the first Jurassic Park trailer has already received over 53.9 million views, a record-breaking feat in YouTube.

Because of this, the sequel for the Jurassic World film has already begun. But the website says that everything is very "blue sky" right now since Universal Pictures is gearing up into making the first movie a success. Trevorrow earlier teased that the Jurassic World franchise might even be made into a trilogy.

"We definitely talked about sequels a lot," he told Empire. "We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story."

But a trilogy has always been the main goal, even with director Joe Johnston originally onboard.

Trevorrow even offered some possible cast details for the sequel. He said that one of them is Untouchable star Omar Sy, who will be seen as Bishop in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

"He's essentially Chris Pratt's best friend," he said of Sy. "They work together and have some pretty cool action scenes together. I wanted to create a relationship there that could be memorable and potentially carry on to future films."

For the meantime though, Trevorrow is getting fans' attention on the upcoming Jurassic World film. He said that there will be a battle of dominance between dinosaurs and humans.

It's about alpha dominance and the fact that humans have been the alpha species for a very long time", he explained, "and so now we've brought back another that happened to be the alpha species during its time, and we have to co-exist, so what is that relationship?"

Jurassic World will be released on June 12, 2015.
