Can romance be brewing between Fat Amy and Bumper Allen in Pitch Perfect 2?
The actor who plays Bumper told MTV's Josh Horowitz in an interview that "there is a lot of love" in the sequel, particularly between Bumper and Rebel Wilson's character, the hilarious Australian Barden Bella Fat Amy.
"I get very emotional in this movie," he laughingly said. DeVine added that it feels weird watching the movie because it felt too intense and real. "I've seen some clips from it and I've thought, 'Oh, God! Am I too real?' It's so real! I get misty-eyed and stuff!"
Director Elizabeth Banks earlier told Yahoo! that the girls will be gearing up for an acapella competition, all the while struggling with personal issues.
"I won't say anything about that relationship, but the girls are now graduating seniors. They're coming to the end of their time as Bellas and figuring out how to sort of leave the next and the comfort of each other's friendship and figure out what they're going to do with the rest of their lives," she said.
The director also shared that there will be a lot of authentic acapella groups that will cameo in the movie, such as Pentatonix and the Filharmonic, and Penn Masala. She said it's so "amazing" that the groups do all their own singing and dancing in the film, and so they tried their best to honor them in the sequel.
Banks added that the whole cast and crew of the original Pitch Perfect were already very pleased with the movie's success so they did not really need to make a sequel. However, they felt like they owed it to fans to share what will happen to the Barden Bellas.
They are not expecting anything grand about the sequel, added Banks, since they just want to go out and make a movie.
"The only reason ever to make a sequel is to spend more time with the characters that people love, to tell more of their story. And I love the Barden Bellas," she explained.
Aside from DeVine and Wilson, other cast of the movie Pitch Perfect 2 would include Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Katey Segal, and Anna Camp. Other stars include Skylar Astin, Hana Mae Lee, and Ben Platt.
The whole group will all be back in Pitch Perfect 2 which has been scheduled for release on May 15.
