Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Is Better than MacBook 2015, Report Claims

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3, predecessor of the Surface Pro 4

Hours after Apple announced its new MacBook, Windows fans were already calling out Microsoft to announce its own high-end device.

Dubbed as the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the tablet-laptop hybrid is rumored to launch together with Windows 10 in a matter of months.

However, according to a report, in spite the striking elegance of the new MacBook, it may fall short compared to the Surface Pro 4's rumored specs. The Latinos Post broke down some of the details about the Surface Pro 4 vs. MacBook 2015 rivalry:

The Surface Pro 4 is a tablet that can work like a laptop

Similar to the device's predecessors, the Surface Pro 4 will be a tablet that can be 'converted' into a laptop with the help of its detachable keyboard. The Microsoft slate is rumored to boast a two sizes, a 14-inch and 12-inch version to rival the MacBook Airs of Apple. Like its older siblings, the Windows-powered tablet is expected to come with an equivalent to QHD display, similar to the 2,304 x 1440 resolution of the new MacBook.

In terms of processing power, both the MacBook and the Surface Pro are expected to get the same Broadwell chip, which takes away the fan from the chip. This means both devices will be super thin, as was already showcased by Apple a few weeks ago. However, the report mentioned that the Microsoft tablet may get a newer version of Broadwell, dubbed Skylake. This version of Intel's latest chipset is rumored to be released in the second quarter of 2015.

Like the MacBook, the Surface Pro 4 is rumored to get an 8GB RAM, and 256GB of flash storage - fit for any professional on the go. Unfortunately for the MacBook, in spite having these monster specs, it is still 'just' a laptop that does not offer touch screen features.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4 has already undergone a number of improvements in the touch screen category, with the Surface Pro 3 getting the closest to win the hearts of tablet-laptop hybrid lovers.

The MacBook still performs better in laptop mode

While the Surface Pro 4 has a touch screen, and is rumored to boast some pretty impressive specs, its main weakness is its laptop 'alternative'. Based on the report, the Microsoft slate should be able to run as seamlessly as the MacBook does. Experts mentioned that the tablet's design, and the detachable keyboard are not 'high quality' enough in order to beat the MacBook's now super shallow keys.

Wrap Up

The Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft will indeed be the ultimate rival of the MacBook when it becomes official. However, until Microsoft fixes the laptop experience in the Surface tablet, it may just continue to be dubbed 'the tablet that can work like a laptop', and not the 'perfect tablet-laptop hybrid'.
