Soccer Transfer: Is Neymar the Next Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi? Brazilian Talisman Moving to Premier League?

FC Barcelona superstar Neymar

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Neymar has the potential to become the best player in the world in the future, but will he be as big as superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo?

Messi and Ronaldo are no doubt the top two players in the world. In a recent interview, Ferguson spoke highly of Neymar, saying that he has the qualities to succeed Ronaldo and Messi when the two superstars call it quits.

While Neymar has yet to reach his full potential, Ferguson also revealed that most people he talked to are also convinced the Brazilian could be the next big thing in football.

"The boy Neymar gets a lot of publicity about the potential he's got, but I think that's still to be seen, still to be fulfilled," Ferguson told reporters. "Certainly, most people I speak to speak highly of the boy."

Since 2009, Messi and Ronaldo are the only two players who have won the FIFA Ballon d'Or award with the FC Barcelona superstar winning it four times and Ronaldo taking it three times, including the last two. The rivals have taken football to a new level, and Ferguson is hoping Neymar will be able to do the same in the future.

"Hopefully he'll be the next one who'll produce the type of talent we see in Messi and Ronaldo," Ferguson said of Neymar, who has scored 17 goals in Spanish La Liga this season. "You'll always look at clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United to produce that kind of player you're talking about."

The 23-year-old superstar was also recently linked to a move out of FC Barcelona as reports indicated that playing alongside superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez is stunting the Brazilian talisman's maturity.

French newspaper Le Perisien recently revealed that Paris Saint-Germain are planning to make a run at acquiring Neymar this summer in the hope of making him the replacement to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract with PSG will expire after next season.

Aside from PSG, Neymar is also being linked to a move to the English Premier League to follow his good friend Alexis Sanchez, but the Brazilian striker played down transfer talks.

"As for playing in England myself, I'm very happy playing for Barcelona," Neymar told Daily Mail Online. "I still have a long road to walk here."
