Former "Harry Potter' actor Alan Rickman has finally tied the knot with his longtime partner Rima Horton.

The 69-year-old actor recently revealed that he has wed his partner of over 40 years after having lived together in London. Although they were believed to have never undergone any wedding ceremony, the "Gambit' star has already made it known that their secret nuptials took place three years ago.

News of their wedding went viral online after Rickman spilled the beans to "Bild', a German publication.

"We are married. Just recently," the "Sweeney Todd' actor shared. "It was great, because no one was there. After the wedding in New York we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and ate lunch."

Rickman also revealed that he bought a simple wedding ring for almost 200 Euros for his wife and that their nuptials had been a simple and low-key ceremony.

As an economist, Horton worked as a Labour party councillor for the Kensington and Chelsea London Borough Council between 1986 and 2006.

In a previous interview with HELLO! Magazine, Rickman spoke about one of the key traits of his wife that has helped uphold their relationship over the past decades.

"I think every relationship should be allowed to have its own rules. She's tolerant. She's incredibly tolerant. Unbelievably tolerant. Possibly a candidate for sainthood," the "Alice in Wonderland' actor shared.

Attaining considerable popularity for portraying Professor Snape in the "Harry Potter' movie franchise, Rickman revealed that movie stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson had split their roles with "small adults in wigs" for certain parts of the movies because of restrictions relating to child labor laws.

"In the first film, if anybody ever wants to look, of course you've got the problem of kids who can only work a certain number of hours," Rickman explained. "Sometimes there were 300 children on set, and at certain points they all had to go off and do some schoolwork."

Rickman is currently promoting the new film "A Little Chaos', which he has directed and appears in. The actor reunites with Kate Winslet for the movie, 20 years since the two worked together on the costume drama "Sense and Sensibility.'
