Rapper Wiz Khalifa has opened up about the success of his tribute song for Paul Walker in the new "Fast and Furious' movie, stating that the single "connects with so many people."
The song "See You Again' has been included in the "Furious 7' soundtrack with which it is used as background music as Walker is shown driving off.
With Charles Puth featured on vocals, the emotional track has since become the fastest- selling single of 2015; it has also triumphed over previous quickest-selling song "Love Me Like You Do', which was featured in the "Fifty Shades of Grey' movie, from pop star Ellie Goulding.
In an interview with BET, Wiz Khalifa also explained that Puth originally wrote the song lyrics about a friend who also died in a car accident. Later on, the rapper took over the tune.
"My whole objective [when writing See You Again] was to make something that everybody can connect with. It feels personal, but it's something that everybody can feel too," the 27-year-old rapper shared.
He also mentioned that the most important thing to consider in creating the song was to put it forward as a celebration of life, saying: "You know, to reflect on things, but also just to celebrate what we've been through."
"See You Again' marks the rapper's second time to soar to the top of the Official Singles Chart after reaching number one in 2012 and overthrowing "Payphone' by Maroon 5. In terms of streaming, the tribute song for Walker has smashed previous records, garnering almost 4 million streams in just one week and triumphing over "Love Me Like You Do.'
In addition, it has also been announced that the seventh "Fast and Furious' installment has become the quickest film to reach the $1 billion mark at the box office.
Opening in cinemas earlier this month, "Furious 7' marks the last onscreen appearance of Walker, who died in November 2013 after a fatal car crash. The bright orange Supra that his character Brian used in "The Fast and the Furious' movie will be auctioned off on May 12 by Mecum Auctions in Indianapolis.
The 5-speed manual car made especially for the first film of the franchise is expected to range from $150,000 to $200,000.
So far, with a total gross of a whopping $1.153 billion at the box office as of last weekend, "Furious 7' has now become the seventh biggest movie in history.
