Director Joss Whedon recently confirmed that he had to cut Loki from the "Avengers: Age of Ultron' despite fans looking forward to the Asgardian's cameo.

In an interview with MTV News, Whedon explained that the Disney-Marvel film had been "full", hence the lack of opportunity for Loki's scenes to be included. "We did shoot something and it didn't play. The movie has so much, is so filled and we didn't want it to feel overstuffed," the director explained.

Idris Elba, who previously appeared in the "Thor' movies as Heimdall, once revealed that he had filmed a scene with Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the Marvel films. However, fans of such superhero universe may be quick to notice that not one Loki scene was included in the second "Avengers' installment.

"I really wanted to have Loki in it but I understood the decision, "Now there are too many voices in the chorus.'", Whedon further stated. "At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing."

Last year, Elba mentioned that he would be back as Heimdall for "Avengers: Age of Ultron,' whereas Hiddleston would certainly return as Loki. "I'm in Avengers, and I'm doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston," the "Luther' star revealed.

With Loki's scenes being cut off from the highly anticipated "Age of Ultron', fans may be looking forward to such deleted scenes being integrated into the film's Blu-ray version or perhaps into the story of "Thor: Ragnarok'. This can be made possible with the same approach used when the scene on Bruce Banner's attempted suicide in "The Incredible Hulk' was incorporated into the script of the first "Avengers' film.

Meanwhile, "Avengers: Age of Ultron' already raked in a whopping $84.5 million last Friday, the biggest opening day recorded for a superhero movie and the second biggest in history after "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2', which grossed $91.7 million on opening day.

Interestingly, Marvel Studios is expected to have the top three opening weekends of all time in the domestic box office with "Avengers', "Avengers: Age of Ultron' and "Iron Man 3.'

In the global box office, "Age of Ultron' has already pulled in $340 million in its first week alone for an early total of $425 million.
