Does the Indominus Rex Carry the DNA of Chris Pratt's Character Owen Grady?

Jurassic World

There has been a crazy plot theory circulating that the main villain in Jurassic World, the genetically modified dinosaur Indominus Rex, might be carrying some human DNA. To be more specific, the Indominus Rex might have been created with a mixture of Owen Grady's (the character played by Chris Pratt) DNA.

Aside from human DNA, the dinosaur also carries a mixture of Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, Majungosaurus, and Rugops, therefore making it even more terrifying and deadly.

This new plot certainly makes a lot of sense, according to Movie Pilot, since it would explain how Owen, the park's dinosaur trainer, manages to tame and work together with the wild raptors.

Old Jurassic Park movies always show the lead character being chased by the dinosaurs, only to escape in the end. Since the storyline has been guaranteed to be pretty much the same as the previous movies, it would look like Owen would be spared the dinosaurs' wrath, and for good reason - they have the same DNA.

Plus, the Indominus Rex has been described as a highly intelligent dinosaur, so having a mixture of human DNA would explain its highly advanced thinking. Fans already know that the Indominus Rex managed to remove the tracker installed in her when she was still young, and she knows how to best ambush the men tracking her.

The theory would also explain the guilty look on Claire's (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) face when they created the Indominus Rex. One of the latest trailers revealed that she had a romantic involvement with Owen that turned sour, but she did seek his advice about the new dinosaur they created in the lab.

As for director Colin Trevorrow, he has nothing but praises to give Jurassic World's lead actor-slash-character, but he did not directly answer questions surrounding the DNA theory. At the same time, his statements do not contradict the theory either.

"Pratt's a classic hero in a very modern context. He's the guy who will get you through the jungle alive - but like Malcolm, Grant and Sattler, he's an expert in a scientific field that's connected to our story. The character allows us to explore some new ideas about our relationship with these animals, without losing the humor and sense of adventure."

Fans need not wait longer since they only have less than a month to confirm this theory. Jurassic World will be making its premiere on June 12, 2015.
