Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Release Date & Specs: Samsung’s Latest 8 and 9.7-Inch Tablets to Arrive Next Month?

Various sources are speculating that Samsung is gearing up to launch two versions of its Galaxy Tab S2 sometime in June.

Although there are no official confirmations yet from the South Korean tech giant, it unveiled the Galaxy Tab S during the same month last year, according to Tech Radar.

Since the Galaxy Tab S2's predecessor is nearing its launch anniversary, it makes sense for Samsung to target a similar summer debut for its latest tablet model.

Based on the information obtained by Sam Mobile, the device will come in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants. Both models, which are expected to be introduced next month, will each have Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi with LTE versions.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to have a metal build made from premium material. The two versions of the tablet will be powered by the octa-core 64-bit Exynos Processor and will be equipped with 3GB of RAM. For its built-in storage, the devices will have 32GB of memory which can be expanded using a microSD card.

Samsung's latest product will feature a Super AMOLED display and carry a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. It will sport an 8-megapixel main camera and a 2.1-megapixel rear camera, Android Community reported.

Out of the box, the Galaxy Tab S2 will run on the Ancdroid 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The 8-inch version will measure 198.2x134.5x5.4 millimeters while its larger counterpart, the 9.7-inch variant will have the dimensions of 237.1x168.8x5.4 millimeters. These two versions will weigh 260 and 407 grams respectively.

Given its specifications and dimensions, some sources are considering the upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 as a potential direct competitor of Apple's iPad Air 2.

There are no information yet as to how long Samsung will wait before releasing the upcoming tablet in stores after its launch. However, the device is expected to go on sale in various markets across U.S., Europe, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India and Latin America.
