Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States finally joined Twitter on Monday, May 18. Obama has 2.2 million followers. According to his Twitter biography, "tweets may be archived" by the U.S. government. Obama is following 65 users. The President tweeted four times since Monday. Obama tweeted two photos, responded to former President Bill Clinton, and expressed his personal feelings on having his own account.
"Hello, Twitter! It's Barack. Really! Six years in, they're finally giving me my own account," tweeted Obama.
Former president Bill Clinton was amongst the first few people to congratulate Obama. "Welcome to @Twitter, @POTUS!" Clinton tweeted. He then asked one good question for his wife Hillary Clinton by asking Obama, "Does that username stay with the office?"
"Good question, @BillClinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?" replied Obama.
Obama is following four Chicago sports teams. He follows the Blackhawks, White Sox, Bears, and the Bulls. He follows former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush. He also follows several U.S. government agencies.
He is also following many, but not all 23 of his cabinet members. The cabinet members he follows are Joe Biden, John Kerry, Sally Jewell, Penny Pritzker, Thomas E.
