Amidst the success of "Pitch Perfect 2," Rebel Wilson is now in the middle of a controversy that has plagued a number of A-list Hollywood actresses throughout the years - her age. This issue has reached impressive heights as even the business records from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIS) and former school records were dug out to prove the authenticity of some details in the actress' life, according to Sydney Morning Herald.

The issue came to light following the publication of an article in Woman's Day Australia, titled "Separating fact from fiction: Will the real Rebel Wilson please stand up?" In another report in The Australian Women's Weekly, the details surrounding Rebel's life which the actress herself reportedly revealed to the writer, Caroline Overington, were clarified as well.

While some claims made by the actress were debunked, the others apparently checked out upon further investigation. However, one of the most controversial issues tackled by the story was Rebel's age which she stated to be 29. Upon checking the documents though, it appears that the comedienne is actually around 35 or 36 years old.

"I studied with Rebel at Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta, Sydney," claimed the source, as reported by Woman's Day Australia. "She's 36 - she was born in 1979 and we left school in 1997," the insider added.

Apart from her age, it appears that another issue hounding the actress is her real name. While the uniqueness of her name had been pointed out in previous interviews, Rebel always gave a ready answer to this question. She claimed that her parents have given her and all her siblings unique names such as Liberty, Ryot and Annarchi.

"No-one knew of a Rebel Wilson. Her name is - or was - Melanie Elizabeth Bownds," a source explained, remarking on the possible stage name claimed by the actress as her own. Moreover, Overington pointed out that Rebel still identified under the name Melanie Elizabeth until 2001 when she penned "The Westie Monologues." Notably, Rebel acknowledged that she changed her surname from Bownds to Wilson prior to this issue.

Although the source insists that Rebel is not part of the actress' birth certificate, this point goes to the comedienne as the business records kept by the ASIC reflect that a certain Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson was registered and such person was born on March 2, 1980.

"She's clearly got a vivid imagination," said the source who also revealed that Rebel was not their class clown. The insider clarified, "She was definitely not the class clown; none of us remember her being funny."

The source then added, "Maybe you have to tell stories to make it in Hollywood!"
