The actor behind New Girl's resident playboy Schmidt will be joining the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.

It was show creator Ryan Murphy, 49, who made the announcement on his Twitter page that the 34-year-old actor will be checking in to Hotel together with Lady Gaga and other American Horror Story alums, with the exception of Jessica Lange, who begged off participation this season five.

"This October, Max Greenfield (like you've never seen him) is checking in to the hotel....but not checking out. #AHSHotel," the executive producer tweeted.

It seems like Greenfield is really excited about being a part of American Horror Story that he tweeted his reply, "Thank you @MrRPMurphy .....It's ON! #AHSHotel."

As of the moment, nothing is known about the roles Greenfield and Lady Gaga will be taking on. However, Lady Gaga did dye her brown hair back to platinum blonde for her role in Hotel, and after, she even posted a photo of herself on her Instagram account lounging inside a beautiful white convertible.

The singer captioned the photo, "I heard you called for a blonde @MrRPMurphy#AHSHotel."

Both Lady Gaga and Greenfield will be joined by returning cast members such as the 66-year-old Kathy Bates and 40-year-old Sarah Paulson, who has been with the show since season 1. Incidentally, Paulson has played different characters in Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show who all managed to survive despite the show's penchant for killing off characters. It remains to be seen whether her lucky streak will continue in Hotel.

Other returning cast members are 28-year-old Evan Peters, 56-year-old Angela Bassett,

American Horror Story: Hotel will also feature newbies Cheyenne Jackson, 39, Wes Bentley, 36, and Chloë Sevigny, 40.

Meanwhile, Matt Bomer, 37, who appeared in the previous season Freak Show has also confirmed an appearance in Hotel.

The production for the show will go back to Louisiana, although the cast and crew will be filming it in Los Angeles for budget concerns. Moreover, filming will start early this July.

Murphy earlier said that all the American Horror Story seasons are connected, although each one tells a different story. The first connection was revealed in Freak Show through the story of Pepper and Sister Mary Eunice in season two's Asylum.

Pepper was one of Elsa Mars' original "freaks," but after the death of Pepper's husband, she was so distraught that Elsa thought it would be good for her to reconnect with family, so she sought Pepper's sister in hopes that she would find a loving home.

What Elsa thought could not be more different, however, since Pepper's sister was mean to the bone and orchestrated a plan with her equally devious husband to get Pepper admitted to the asylum.
