Galaxy S6 Mini Rumors & Specs: Samsung’s Mini Version of Flagship Phone Coming with 4.6-Inch Display?

Samsung Galaxy S6

New information revealed in the database of tech site GFX Benchmark strongly suggests that Samsung is working on a new addition to its Galaxy S6 lineup.

Although the name of the product was not revealed, various sources speculated that it might be the Galaxy S6 Mini.

Shortly following the official launch of Samsung flagship handset, the Galaxy S6 and its Edge counterpart, rumors about the Galaxy S6 Active began to emerge. The Active variant will sport a 5.1-inch display, which is similar to the one on the Galaxy S6.

In the recent leak, however, the handset with model code SM G9198 features a smaller display size, which is at 4.6-inches. This led various sources to believe that the device GFX Benchmark may be referring to is the unannounced Galaxy S6 Mini.

According to the site, the device's display sports a 1280x768 pixel resolution. It has about 2GB of RAM and is powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor from Qualcomm. Pocket Now noted that this could be the Snapdragon 808 SoC.

Although Samsung is known for using its own Exynos chipsets for its flagship devices, the company sometimes turns to Qualcomm for the processors of its other smartphone variants.

As for its other features, the alleged Galaxy S6 Mini is expected to come with 16GB of internal storage. It will also sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. Like the main Galaxy S6 models, the Galaxy S6 Mini will also have a motion processor and barometer, according to GSM Arena.

For its OS, device SM G9198 runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The device's launch and release dates, however, were not mentioned in the site. But the last time Samsung unveiled a mini version of its flagship device, which was the Galaxy S5 Mini, was in July of 2014.

Following this trend, it is highly possible that the company might officially announce the Galaxy S6 Mini during the same month this year.
