According to Fox News, the United States government has decided to provide Kurdish forces in Iraq with American weaponry. Many Republican leaders and Hillary Clinton expressed the view that the administration's current very limited intervention in the Iraqi crisis is not enough to hold off the Islamic State militants.

It is reported that the Islam Jihadists have occupied a considerable amount of territory in Iraq and Syria targeting Christians, Yazidis and other religious, ethnic minorities. Thousands of refugees were forced to leave their homes or be killed by the militants.

"They are systematically beheading children, and mothers and fathers. The world hasn't seen an evil like this for a generation. There's actually a park in Mosul that they've actually beheaded children and put their heads on a stick," National spokesman for Iraqi Christians and Chaldean-American businessman Mark Arabo told CNN last week.

Marie Harf, a spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department made a statement that, "the Kurds need additional arms and we're providing those." The administration has made a reversal in its foreign policy regarding the crisis in Iraq. In addition to providing weaponry to the Kurdish military, the U.S. also carried out additional airstrikes at what they believed to be terrorist installations in northern Iraq to defend American military personnel.

So far, President Obama has received a great deal of criticism for his foreign policies regarding the Islamic militants. Although he had authorized the military to bomb terrorist areas, this was only to protect American military and diplomatic personnel who were active in Iraq. He made it clear that the U.S. was not planning to start another full scale war in Iraq.

However, Republican leaders, humanitarian leaders from the Middle East and even Democrats including Hillary Clinton have expressed that a limited approach is not going to solve the issue. Many Republican leaders have expressed that the Islamic State militants could soon be a direct threat to the U.S. through their capabilities and the amount of territory and weaponry they possess.

Meanwhile, President Obama has expressed great disappointment in the fact that Clinton decided to side with the Republicans on this matter.
