Lenovo Working on Unnamed 6.8-inch Phablet

A certification granted by a Chinese agency to Lenovo revealed that the company is working on a new phablet device.

Based on the details revealed by TENAA, Lenovo's upcoming device will sport a massive 6.8-inch display.

Currently, the device is only known as PB1-770N. Lenovo will probably come up with a more attractive name once the device is ready to be debuted.

As translated by GSM Arena, the TENAA certification indicates that the PB1-770N will be powered by an unnamed 1.5GHz octa-core processor. It will also have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Since the device has microSD support, the device's storage can be pushed to 64GB.

The device will also have a 13-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capability. The front side will feature a 5-megapixel camera.

The certification also revealed that the upcoming phablet will have dual SIM card slots and its connectivity will be supported by 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, according to Phone Arena.

For its operating system, the tech news site noted that the device will be Android based. However, it is not yet clear if the PB1-770N will run on the latest version of the Android Lollipop or Google's recently launched Android M.

The upcoming device from Lenovo measures 186. 6x 96.6 x 7.7 millimeters and weighs around 230 grams. However, despite its size, it will only be powered by a 3500mAh battery.

Although this rating might be considered acceptable in terms of smartphone standards, it might not supply enough power to run a phablet for a long period of time.

Given the PB1-770N's 6.8-inch display, it seems Lenovo is aiming to release the phablet as a direct competitor of Huawei's P8 Max.

Officially unveiled in April, Huawei's latest device also sports a 6.8-inch screen and serves as a bigger version of its P8 flagship smartphone.
