LG has started rolling out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to its G2 Mini devices.

Although update was released for users in Greece, LG is targeting to seed the OS upgrade to other countries before this month ends.

The arrival of the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is considered as the first major update for the G2 Mini. When the smartphone first came out in February of last year, it ran on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Through the new Lollipop-based OS, G2 Mini users can expect to see various improvements in the handset's overall performance, according to Android Geeks.

For one, since its OS will be upgrade to Android Lollipop, the device will get the Material Design. The handset will also be able to support multiple users through its new sharing capabilities.

Other new features of the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update include improved security, better network connectivity and enhanced notification system.

In addition, the update will also improve the battery life of the G2 Mini. According to a report by Phone Arena, around three hours of usage time will be added through the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop's battery saver feature.

Initial reports noted that the update was rolled out in Greece. But various users from Hungary, Romania and Lithuania reported that they have also received the update. Hopefully, more countries will receive the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for the G2 Mini within the coming weeks.

With the roll out underway, users should expect to receive a notification regarding the update's availability. But can also check if it's ready for download through the Settings menu of their devices.

Android Geeks pointed out that the update is only available to unlocked G2 Mini devices that are running on its stock Android KitKat OS. This means that if the device's firmware has been modified, then it will most likely not receive the update.
