iPad Pro Rumors & Specs: Apple’s Largest Tablet with iOS 9 Stylus Feature Might Arrive This Fall

Numerous sources are speculating that Apple might unveil the rumored iPad Pro in fall of this year, along with the latest version of its operating system, the iOS 9.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, details of the iOS 9 suggest that it will carry wide-ranging support for the features of the upcoming tablet.

It was previously believed that Apple was preparing to announce the iPad Pro during the recent World Wide Developers Conference. However, attendees of the event did not see a large-scale iPad from the Cupertino-based firm.

Instead, the company introduced the iOS 9. With the public beta version of the OS expected to be released in July, Apple might roll out the iOS 9 update during the autumn season, which is around September or October, CNET reported.

Of course, once the Apple officially release the IOS 9, the company will most likely accompany it with a new device. And, based on leak details of the operating system's features, this device could possibly be the iPad Pro with 12.9-inch display.

According to a discovery made by app developer Steve Troughton-Smith, the upcoming iOS 9 will feature a new virtual keyboard design that can be modified to fit large-screen devices.

A screenshot posted by the developer shows that the new keyboard design features larger spaces between keys as compared to previous versions.

Since the iPad Pro is considered as Apple's largest tablet to date, it seems this feature of the iOS 9 was specifically designed for the upcoming slate.

Aside from a new virtual keyboard, Apple's senior IOS engineering manager Jason Beaver previously explained that the operating system will come with predictive touch technology. Basically, this feature can predict pressure-based movements on the display, according to Master Herald.

This strongly suggests that the iOS 9 can support a stylus pen since the predictive touch feature can make it easier for users to draw on a tablet.

This detail coincides with revelations made by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chu Kuo about Apple working on a stylus support for the iPad Pro. According to the analyst, Apple recently filed patents for stylus-related features for its upcoming device, Tech Radar has learned.

If rumors are true, then the 12.9-inch iPad Pro could become the first Apple tablet that comes with a stylus pen, which sources have named as the iPen.
