'American Horror Story' Cast: Jessica Lange Could Still Make A Comeback for 'Small Roles'

'American Horror Story' star Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange has dropped hints about possibly returning to "American Horror Story' as she recently revealed about being open to the idea of having a "small role" for the hit anthology.

In every season of "American Horror Story', new characters as well as a new setting are put forward for its audiences but Lange is known for playing an important role in all four seasons to date.

The 66-year-old actress already bagged two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for her compelling performance on "American Horror Story' as a menacing neighbor, hardhearted nun, self-gratifying witch and dishonest freak show leader.

However, earlier this year, Lange announced she would not be joining the upcoming fifth season, "American Horror Story: Hotel', in which Lady Gaga is expected to make an appearance.

Now the actress is setting fans' minds at rest and announces that she has not said her final good-bye to "American Horror Story.'

"If Ryan [Murphy, co-creator] came to me and said, 'Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?' I would absolutely say yes if I liked it," Lange said. "This was a great collaboration, so I would love to keep working with him."

Lady Gaga was the first confirmed actress to have joined the fifth season, "Hotel.' Since then, other celebrities have also signed on to the anthology, including Kathy Bates, Chloë Sevigny, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Finn Wittrock and Max Greenfield.

Plot details for "American Horror Story' season five are being kept under wraps but Murphy has dropped hints that Gaga's character could be involved in a love triangle.

For the pop star, this will be her first official TV acting gig after taking on small supporting roles in movies such as "Machete Kills' and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.'

She also made an appearance as herself in 2014's "Muppets Most Wanted.'

Last week, the cast and crew of "American Horror Story' were present at the For Your Consideration panel and answered questions about casting for the new season and the experiences in welcoming new characters.

"It was exciting because you come and you'd be playing with the same actors, actors that you really love and have deep respect for, and you know their rhythm and you know how you work together and everything, but you're both in different skins," Lange explained.

Bates also defended the show's recent casting decisions, saying: "Are you out of your mind? It's perfect casting for this show!"

The upcoming season has been scheduled to premiere on the US cable network FX this October.
