Fans and followers of the Marvel Universe will be more than familiar with the chronicles of Ant-Man. Hence, it will come as no surprise to them that the latest spoiler revealed by none other than Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president of production, himself includes the news regarding the inclusion of The Wasp in the upcoming film.

In an interview with MTV News, Feige disclosed that the character of Janet van Dyne, otherwise known as The Wasp, will be part of the Ant-Man film. Speculations regarding her potential participation in the widely anticipated film came after news that her husband, the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, and daughter, Hope van Dyne, portrayed by Evangeline Lilly, are going to take part in the Ant-Man flick.

The alter-ego of The Wasp, Janet, comes from a very wealthy family which causes a bit of friction in her relationship with Hank as the latter feels unworthy of her. As a superhero, The Wasp has powers such as Insect Communication and Control, Size Reduction, Wasp's Sting, Size Addition, and of course Flight, according to Marvel. As Janet, she is an extremely talented and multilingual fashion designer and is a trained combatant. An interesting fact about The Wasp is that she was actually the one who dubbed the entire superhero team as the "Avengers."

While the plot involving her storyline remains unknown, some fans speculate that her inclusion in the film might double as an explanation for the seemingly palpable rift between Hank and Hope as well as provide a back story to shed light on her husband's decision to stop donning the Ant-Man suit, according to Collider.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Feige teases on the part to be played by The Wasp in the Ant-Man franchise. He says, "It [The Wasp's appearance] factors in, in a number of spoiler-ish ways, but we will see Janet Van Dyne in action in this film. And part of sort of what happened to her. And then we will understand why that is the reason that he doesn't want his daughter to follow in those footsteps. One of the reasons why he's always so upset about superheroes in general, dismissive of them in general and also a reason why he doesn't want her to put on the suit."

Feige also discloses that The Wasp's storyline will help fans understand why Douglas' character, Hank, chooses an ex-convict to don his superhero suit. While the answer might be due to Scott Lang's "abilities in cracking security networks and in pulling off heists that nobody else has," Feige says that the urge to protect his daughter also pushed Hank to make the said decision.

"Hope is infinitely more capable of actually being a superhero in the beginning of this film, and we learn sort of that that's ultimately when Hank reveals for the first time for the audience, and even the first time to Hope, what actually happened in the past and why he's so nervous about putting on that suit," Feige explains.
