The widely watched 2006 TV series, "Heroes," will be returning to the small screen this fall as NBC announced the reboot of the said show, according to Coming Soon. Previously hailed as the show that prompted the legions of superhero TV series and movies in its wake, "Heroes" topped the ratings game during its airing.

With the return of the show, it appears that NBC is capitalizing on the same formula as Tim Kring, the creator of "Heroes," will be reprising his role as in the reboot, aptly called "Heroes Reborn." Reports reveal that Jack Coleman, who played H.R.G.in "Heroes," will be back to portray the same role alongside Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian. Hiro Nakamura, played by Masi Oka, will be back onscreen as well. Apart from Coleman, Jean-Louis, and Oka, Henry Zebrowski of "A to Z" fame and "Criminal Minds" star Gatlin Green will be joining the cast of "Heroes Reborn." Zachary Levi, who gained further popularity via NBC's comedy series, "Chuck," and Marvel's "Thor," will star in the reboot as well.

"The Boy Next Door" star, Ryan Guzman, as well as "Once Upon A Time" actress Robbie Kay and "Shameless" star Danika Yarosh will also be part of the fall project. Rounding up the confirmed cast for "Heroes Reborn" are Judith Shekoni of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" fame and Kiki Sukezane of "Death Yankee 3." Apart from serving as the show's creator, Kring will also work alongside James Middleton and Peter Elkoff as the executive producers of the TV series.

"This highly anticipated 13-episode event series will reconnect with the basic elements of the show's first season, where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities," NBC wrote in the promotional trailer for the returning TV series. The teaser clip came after the network unveiled the poster for the show earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the other members of the original cast of "Heroes" are nowhere to be found. Hayden Panettiere, the actress who played Claire Bennet in "Heroes," a cheerleader with the tagline, "save the cheerleader, save the world," earlier said that she was not tapped to reprise her role. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the "Nashville" star disclosed that she actually learned of the remake through her cousin.

"Well, it was a shock to me, and, in fact, I believe I became privy to that through my cousin," she said, referring to "Heroes Reborn" and how she came to know of the project. She added, "She sent me a text message and told me about it, and, I mean, we had nothing, nothing to do with it; it will definitely be interesting to see how they reinvent that."

Panettiere also shared that a "whole new set of characters" might be featured in "Heroes Reborn." She revealed, "It's a little bit of an interesting feeling because you go, "That was our show, our home, our family," something that we had a major part in creating as well, and, I mean, I hope that they don't have somebody else playing our characters, that would be a little dagger in the heart."
