Comic book fans and superhero aficionados are undoubtedly looking forward to "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" as the film promises to provide a fertile ground for numerous other DC Cinematic Universe characters to crop up in the future. With the release date of the widely anticipated film drawing nearer, various speculations on the plot twists and characters to be featured keep popping out of the Internet nowadays - with the most recent speculation linking "Watchmen" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan to the upcoming superhero movie.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the actor was grilled over this speculation to which he responded in a slightly vague manner. Citing the video clip obtained by fans, the TV show host asked Morgan regarding his involvement in the project, according to Batman News. In the said clip, a portrait of who could be presumed as Ben Affleck's Batman's father, Thomas Wayne, getting transported into the filming area of the DC movie was shown. With regard the connection between Morgan and the portrait, Kimmel pointed out that the man in the picture had an uncanny resemblance with the actor.

"God dang, it sure looks like me, doesn't it?" Morgan responded when confronted by the "facts" during Kimmel's show, according to Cinema Blend. He added, "I think you probably have to go watch the movie to see if that's me, but it looks a lot like me, man."

While this may not be direct confirmation, many fans of the franchise took it to heart and even rejoiced over the news. However, Morgan and DC remain mum on the topic. What had been long confirmed, however, is the involvement and introduction of some DC Cinematic Universe heroes in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Should the studio decide to capitalize on the potential massive effect of combining two of the biggest superheroes in one film, then this could pave the way to numerous standalone projects for the other characters - similar to the strategy employed by Marvel when it built on the prominence of the "Avengers" film to boost the popularity of the team's characters including Captain America, Thor and Iron Man. According to HNGN, viewers of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" will also catch a glimpse of The Flash, Lex Luthor, Aquaman and Wonder Woman.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theatres in the United States on March 25, 2016.
