After playing a contemporary hero in "Mad Max' and taking on a villainous role in "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises,' Tom Hardy is set to play a pair of notoriously bad twins in the upcoming film "Legend.'

In the crime thriller movie, the British actor portrays the dual roles of the Kray brothers, who are known to be gangsters in real life and exerted much power in London's underworld during the 1950s and "60s.

Directed by Brian Helgelund, who previously worked on "L.A. Confidential,' the new trailer shows Hardy playing the twins Reggie and Ronnie with which the former is named as "the gangster prince of the East End" while the latter is recognized as a one-man mob.

The recently unveiled clip also shows the twins operating nightclubs and meeting celebrities while carrying out murder and other criminal activities.

In the upcoming movie, Hardy is joined by Chazz Palminteri, David Thewlis, Emily Browning and Taron Egerton.

"Legend' is set for an official release on Oct. 2. Its trailer can be watched below.

Meanwhile, fans of Hardy will still get a glimpse of the 37-year-old actor in upcoming "Mad Max' films as director George Miller promised the public that more movies will be developed for the dystopian action movie franchise.

The 70-year-old director took to social media and wrote in his first tweet: "Hello Twitter! Thanks for all the kind words written and said about the film. We had a lot of fun making it and there's more Max to come."

In a podcast with Jeff Goldsmith, Miller also dropped hints of the fifth movie being possibly titled with "Mad Max: The Wasteland.' He made the following statement:

"We've got one screenplay [for the second film] and a novella [for the third]. It happened because with the delays [on 'Fury Road'], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded. [The second one] is called "The Wasteland.' "Mad Max: The Wasteland.'"

In an interview earlier this year, Hardy shared of his commitment to reprising his role for three more "Mad Max' movies.

"Everything's based on figures and how things are perceived. Inevitably it's a business," the "Inception' actor said.

Hardy has taken the role of Max Rockatansky aka Mad Max, previously played by Mel Gibson, while Charlize Theron portrays Furiosa in the post-apocalyptic film, which has been set in a run-down Australian Outback.

"Mad Max: Fury Road' is a sequel to the "Mad Max' trilogy that was directed by Gibson and Miller. The three-part movie series was comprised of "Mad Max', "The Road Warrior' and "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.'

For its upcoming sequel "The Wasteland', no plot details have been revealed. Announcements for casting and release date are yet to be made as well.
