Had Taylor Swift's schedule only been more forgiving, then the well-loved singer just might have appeared in Ryan Murphy's comedy horror series "Scream Queens!"
In an interview with Hollywood Life, Murphy said that he is a huge fan of Swift and her songs. In fact, he loved her so much that he even offered her a role in "Scream Queens." However, the singer's other commitments forced her to turn down the role.
"I love Taylor Swift. I go after Taylor Swift for everything that I do. I have great affection for her," Murphy said. "And she's always been so nice about giving me stuff. And I think she's great. I would love to work with her. I actually called her people about her for this, but she had already booked a tour, and I said, just do one episode, but she couldn't even do that."
However, Murphy remains optimistic that Swift would find time to work on an episode or two next time around - maybe for the second season of "Scream Queens"? Murphy promised, "Some day, because I'm a big fan."
Swift's busy schedule might have kept her from joining "Scream Queens," but fortunately, other singers were able to join the star-studded cast, such as Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande.
Murphy added that after he got Jamie Lee Curtis to join "Scream Queens," he had no trouble asking other stars to be a part of it as well. "Glee" star Lea Michele, for one, agreed on a role for the comedy horror series without even knowing what it was.
"I just thought, wouldn't it be fun to see Lea play something completely non glamorous and weird? And you'll see in the second episode of all the characters, she's obsessed with death. She's the one that wants to go in and touch the dead body," he said.
"And then she tried to steal Emma's boyfriend," Murphy added. "So I called her up. I'm like, you can't wear any makeup, and you're in a neck brace. And you're in the worst outfits of all time, but you have a great turn. Will you do it? And she said yes, sight unseen. So she took herself out of pilot season contention. She said, 'Okay, I'll do it,' based on trust, I guess."
Apart from "Scream Queens," Murphy is also working on the fifth season of "American Horror Story" with the title "Hotel," which will star Lady Gaga and other series regulars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Evan Peters, among many others.
