The legal drama "Suits" has just aired its season five premiere recently, but its ratings were just so good that USA Network felt confident about the show's future and decided to renew it for a sixth season.

There will be 16 episodes for season six, and they will begin writing, filming, editing, and marketing it after season five airs, according to Deadline.

USA President Chris McCumber released a statement saying, "Suits has set the bar high in every way and continues to be a strong performer and marquee property for USA."

Meanwhile, UCP president Jeff Wachtel added, "Aaron Korsh has some great surprises for the audience at the end of Season 5 that should really set future seasons on an exciting new course."

Korsh is the executive producer of "Suits" together with Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic, as well as Anton Cropper, Daniel Arkin and Chris Downey.

Season five began with Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht) reeling from the departure of his long-time secretary Donna Paulsen (played by Sarah Rafferty), who is now working for Louis Litt (played by Rick Hoffman).

When Donna informed Harvey that she would be giving him two weeks' notice in order to give him enough time to seek a replacement, Harvey told her to "rip the band-aid off" and just go to Louis, which she later did, but Louis was hesitant taking her on after the Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) fiasco during the previous season.

To recall, Mike went to work for Louis after he and Harvey bumped heads, but just as things were looking up for the Louis and Mike tandem, Harvey swoops in and steals Mike back from Louis.

Louis fears that Donna would return to Harvey eventually, therefore leaving him heartbroken, but Donna remains adamant that she will work for him and not go back to Harvey. This really puts a dent on Harvey's steadfast belief that Donna would go back working for him in the end, and so he seeks psychiatric help when he breaks down in the office.

On the other hand, Mike and Rachel Zane (played by Meghan Markle) are feeling high on their engagement, but planned to keep things a secret in the office, save for Harvey and Donna. Rachel steps up for Harvey when his work becomes overwhelming, and this gesture does not go unnoticed by Donna, who thanks Rachel in the end.

Jessica Pearson (played by Gina Torres) had her heart broken in season five, so her focus remains on the firm once again. She notices Harvey's plight with Donna and offers to get his secretary back for him, but Harvey refuses. He finally acknowledges departure in the end and sets to get his life back in order.
