There is some exciting news for actor Josh Hartnett as the "Penny Dreadful' star and his girlfriend, actress Tamsin Egerton, are confirmed to be expecting their first child together.

The parents-to-be are reportedly "beyond thrilled" to be welcoming a new addition to the family, although there have been no details yet regarding Egerton's due date.

The 36-year-old actor and the 26-year-old actress crossed paths in 2011 while shooting an adventure romance film titled "The Lovers' helmed by Roland Jeffe.

Since then, the couple has been dating for almost four years while their time travel movie was unveiled in 2013.

Meanwhile, "Penny Dreadful', in which Hartnett stars as sharpshooting werewolf Ethan Chandler, will air its final episode for season two this Sunday, July 5. Moreover, the horror drama TV series was renewed by Showtime for a third season.

The finale, titled "They Were Enemies' will show Eva Green's character Vanessa having to depend on her beliefs to be capable of escaping a bloody encounter, which also involves Ethan.

As pointed out by the official synopsis, "Vanessa must rely on her strength to defeat the Demon in the season finale."

"Penny Dreadful' showrunner John Logan opened up about the season two finale as well as the possibilities for the show's main characters.

"I'm exceptionally proud of the season finale. Because I do think it delivers something very surprising," Logan told Entertainment Weekly.

"A lot of characters and a lot of plot strands are in function in season two, and in the finale, they all come together, sort of come crashing together," the TV writer and producer added.

As such, the connections that were developed over the two seasons have been challenged and will begin to break in ways that Logan believes are interesting.

According to the Tony award-winning screenwriter, the actual monster is the reality "that all of us are flawed, and you can either embrace your flaws and let them empower you or you can let them cripple you."

Making a comparison between the first and second seasons, the showrunner previously shared that the second one is funnier and more romantic.

"I was more confident writing lighter moments for the characters, and the actors were more confident embracing those, so I think in the second season we were more romantic"”we were certainly more musical, more choreographic"”and funnier," Logan explained.

Meanwhile, "Penny Dreadful' star Hartnett will make his next appearance in James Franco's drama film, "The Long Home,' alongside Ashton Kutcher, Josh Hutcherson and Courtney Love.

Egerton is currently shooting soccer comedy "Grimsby' together with Rebel Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen.
