'X-Men: Apocalypse' Movie: Stan Lee Teases About His Cameo

Stan Lee at the Phoenix Comic-Con in Phoenix, Arizona

Comic book creator Stan Lee is no celebrity, but he could very well be one himself given his recognizable face in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Lee has served as Marvel Comics' publisher from 1972 to 1996, and then took on the role of producer for majority of Marvel films, whether they are helmed by Marvel Studios or 20th Century Fox.

But the man does not work merely behind the scenes. In fact, he has appeared in over 20 cinematic adaptations of his comic books, starting with the 1989 TV movie "The Trial of the Incredible Hulk" to this year' "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

His film cameos have become so popular that seeing him on the big screen has become an event himself, and the comic book genius has teased that his next appearance on "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be even better than anything he has ever done.

The Business Insider reported that when asked during the recent Comic-Con what his favorite cameo has been, Lee answered, "I really love them all." However, he quickly added that his next cameo just might top the list.

"I did a cameo for the next 'X-Men' movie," he said, but he was suddenly cut short and the moderator whispered in his ear. Lee then said that the topic was off-limits, and he that he was already receiving evil eyes from all of the Marvel employees present.

"When you say I'm not allowed - will I be arrested?" Lee jokingly quipped.

The crowd went wild with his statement, and cheered Lee on, pressing him for more details.

And he enthusiastically replied: "When you go see the next 'X-Men' movie when it comes out, and see my fantastic cameo, you will say, 'I remember he told me about it here. It's a different cameo in that it has one additional thing in it."

Lee did not reveal anything specific, but that did not stop fans from cheering the creative genius.

This encouraged Lee to further tease fans and he added: "And if that doesn't make you go see 'X-Men,' I'm wasting my time."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is directed by Bryan Singer and will be released on May 27, 2016. It will have old and familiar characters such as James McAvoy portraying Professor Charles Xavier, Huge Jackman as Wolverine, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, among many others.
