‘NBA 2K16’ Release Date & Features: Soundtrack & Summer League Mode Details Revealed

NBA 2K15

Developers of the upcoming "NBA 2K16" have shared new details regarding the upcoming basketball simulation game's soundtrack.

In addition, publisher 2K Sports announced that the next installment in the "NBA 2K" series will feature the Summer League Mode.

According to a post on the game's website, the track list of "NBA 2K16" will feature 50 songs from various artists. These will be divided into six playlists which gamers can listen to while enjoying the game.

Three of these lists will be compiled and prepared by the guest producers DJ Premier, DJ Khaled and DJ Mustard. The fourth playlist, dubbed as "Around the World," will have an international theme while the fifth track lineup will feature fan-favorite songs from previous "NBA 2K" titles.

Lastly, the game will include a master playlist which will feature all 50 songs.

2K Sports, however, did not go into detail regarding the titles of the songs which will be included in the game's soundtrack. But the studio noted that these will come from various genres and music eras such as hip-hop, rock, pop, electronic and 70s punk.

So far, the songs confirmed for the game are "Blitzkrieg Bop" from The Ramones, "Represent" from NAS and "I Want You to Know" from Zedd featuring Selena Gomez.

Aside from preparing some of the soundtrack's playlists, the three DJs and guest producers will also contribute new instrumental tracks for the game. These can be accessed through the MyPlayer and MyGM modes of "NBA 2K16."

"I am excited to be a part of the ongoing series of 'NBA 2K,'" DJ Premier said in a statement according to NBA2K16Game. "As a sports fan, it was already fun before the work began. 'NBA 2K16' will be another big hit, especially alongside DJ Mustard and DJ Khaled bringing our different musical styles to the game."

In addition the soundtrack, 2K Sports also announced that "NBA 2K16" will feature the Summer League, which was last seen by fans during the actual 2011 NBA season.

In the NBA, the Summer League consists of off-season basketball games between NBA teams. But, unlike during the regular seasons, teams utilize different rosters composed of rookies, unsigned free agents and second year players.

Although the game developers did not explain the mechanics of the Summer League mode for "NBA 2K16," it's probably safe to assume that it will be similar to its real-life counterpart.

"NBA 2K16" is set to hits stores on September 29. It will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
