Nexus 5 2015 From Huawei Might Feature 5.7-Inch Display and Snapdragon 820

Nexus 5 (First Generation)

Details about the 2015 edition of the Nexus 5 being made by Huawei for Google have been leaked through Twitter.

Based on the leak, the upcoming Nexus model will have a smaller display than its predecessor but will pack a standard high-end smartphone feature.

The latest news regarding Huawei's Nexus project came from famous tech leaker Evan Blass, also known as Twitter user evleaks. In a short tweet posted by Blass on July 15, he was able to reveal the important details of the upcoming handset.

"Huawei Nexus sounds impressive so far: 5.7" QHD w/ metal body, SD820 SoC, fingerprint reader," he tweeted. "Ships Q4."

Breaking down Blass' tweet, it may come as a surprise that the upcoming Nexus 5 2015 model will come with a 5.7-inch display. After all, its predecessor, the Nexus 6 which was developed by Motorola Mobility and Google, sports a massive 6-inch screen.

But as noted by 9to5Google, Huawei and Google may have opted to equip their upcoming device with a slightly smaller display for practical reasons. This could either be related to the display screen's manufacturing process or for the convenience of users.

Also, at 5.7 inches, it seems Huawei's Nexus will serve as the bigger variant of the handset. Previous it was reported that aside from Huawei, Google has partnered with LG for the development of another model of the Nexus 5 2015.

According to CNET, LG's creation will come with a 5.2-inch display. The site pointed out that with two different sizes, Google may be trying to imitate what Apple did with the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6. By releasing two handsets with different sizes, Google will be able to offer consumers with more buying options.

Aside from the display size, Blass also mentioned that the upcoming Nexus smartphone from Huawei and Google will come with a fingerprint scanner, a feature that is quickly becoming a standard for most high-end devices.

However, there are no details yet regarding the integration of the scanner. It is currently unconfirmed if it will be part of the display or if it will be located on the device's home button.

Lastly, based on the tweet, the latest member of the Nexus family will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset. Qualcomm officially unveiled the SoC in March of this year. According to the chip maker, the latest Snapdragon model has faster processing capabilities and can predict the device operations of users, GSM Arena has learned.

Although Blass is a reliable leaker, the information he revealed should still be regarded as rumors since neither Google nor Huawei have officially revealed the details of their new Nexus device. Hopefully, more information regarding the handset will be unveiled as it nears its expected launch during the fourth quarter of this year.
