Lightning Strike Injures Six Boys and Their Football Coach

An unexpected turn of events have caused injury to six teenage football players and their coach of Picacho middle school at Las Cruces, Mexico lightning struck them during a football practice. It was reported that the lightning struck a tree near where the team was located. According to police report, it was sudden and it did not come with a warning.

One of the football players was reported to be in critical condition. He was airlifted to the University Medical Center in El Paso burn unit for what might be a serious injury. Fortunately, he is now stable. According to reports, the boy's condition had taken a full turn to recovery as he is able to breathe normally as confirmed by the boy's mother. The other victims had minor injuries and some did not require hospitalization, as accounted by the police.

Tuesday around 5 in the afternoon, six boys and their football coach were out on the field practicing runs and passes for an upcoming football game. The coach reportedly said that the day was still and not a sign of rain was up to put on a hold on their practice. The turn of events was unexpected as lightning struck a nearby tree and the debris unexpectedly hit them.
