A price list made by network carrier U.S. Cellular revealed that the upcoming Moto G 3rd Gen handset will cost around $179.

This contradicts previous rumors that suggested that the smartphone will be more expensive than its predecessors.

Earlier iterations of the Moto G, which were unveiled by Motorola in 2013 and 2014, came out with a retail price of around $180. Being labeled as budget-friendly handsets, this price seems just about right given the specs of the smartphones.

For the 2015 version of the Moto G, on the other hand, various sources have speculated regarding its price. Some said it will cost more than previous models while others noted that it will be shipped with the same price.

But recently, tech news site Droid Life was able to obtain what appears to be a price list from U.S. Cellular. Based on the list, the Moto G 3rd Gen with model number SKU 186978 will cost $179.99.

This new detail contradicts the price of the Moto G 2015 revealed by Swiss online retailer Digitec, Giga reported. According to the site, the handset will go on sale for CHF 235, which is equivalent to $245. If this is true, then the upcoming handset will be the most expensive version from the Moto G line released by Motorola.

However, the contradicting information may not automatically mean one source made a mistake. Instead, the different price tags could point to two versions of the Moto G 3rd Gen.

In Digitec's product listing, the $245-Moto G handset comes with 2GB of RAM. Although U.S. Cellular did not reveal the specs of its Moto G smartphone, this might actually be the 1GB version.

But, since Motorola has not yet revealed the details of its upcoming handset, there is still no way of confirming the actual price of the Moto G 3rd Gen.

As for its other specs, previous rumors indicated that the smartphone will come with a 5.0-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Its screen is expected to have a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

The device will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm and will feature the Adreno 306 for its graphics processing unit. It will either come with 8GB or 16GB of native storage which can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card.

The Moto G 2015 is also expected to come with a 13-megapixel main camera paired with 5-megapixel front shooter.

Rumors suggest that Motorola will officially unveil the next version of the Moto G at an event scheduled for July 28.
