Motorola Officially Unveils Moto G 2015, Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition

Motorola has officially unveiled the 2015 edition of its Moto G handset.

Aside from its budget-friendly device, the company also introduced two new smartphones dubbed as the Moto X Play and Moto X Style.

According to the Motorola, the Moto G 3rd Gen will be available in two storage-based variants. The 1GB of RAM with 8GB of native memory will have a retail price of $179.99. The larger version, of the 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage model will cost $219.99, 9to5Google reported.

These two version are expected to debut in 60 different regions starting today.

The Moto G 2015 sports a 5-inch HD display with a screen resolution of 720p. It houses a 13-megapixel rear camera paired with a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. The device is powered by the 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor from Qualcomm.

The device has connectivity support for Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 802.11 b/g/n/ Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. It also has IPX7 certification which means the device can survive being submerged in 3 feet of water for about 30 minutes.

It also has a microSD card slot which means the internal storage of the device can be expanded.

As for the other devices recently unveiled by Motorola at a press event, the Moto X Style is the company latest flagship handset. The device, which is also called as the Moto X Pure Edition for the U.S. market, is the 3rd generation model of Motorola's Moto X line, according to Android Central.

It features a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and is powered by the Snapdragon 808 processor and packs 3GB of RAM. It comes with an impressive 21-megapixel main camera with 4K video capabilities and f/2.0 aperture. On the front side, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel snapper with front-facing flash.

The device comes in 16, 32 and 64GB internal storage variants. It runs on a 3000mAh battery which can provide up to 30 hours of usage time.

The Moto X Style or Moto X Pure Edition is expected to hit stores in September of this year. It will have a retail price starting at $399.

Lastly, the Moto X Play is Motorola's rugged version of the Moto X Style. The device is housed inside a waterproof casing and sports a slightly smaller display at 5.5 inches. It comes with the Snapdragon 615 and packs 2GB of RAM. The device features the same camera configuration as its flagship counterpart.

But unlike the Moto X Style, the Play variant comes with a bigger battery capacity at 3630mAh. The Moto X Play will be officially released in August but it is not yet confirmed if the device will be available in the U.S. market.
