Tech News: T-Mobile Adds Apple Music to Music Freedom Plan, Offers Updated iPhone Trade-in Program

The CEO of T-Mobile announced that the company has included Apple's recently released Apple Music service to its popular Music Freedom plan.

In addition, the executive said that through the network carrier's trade-in program, T-Mobile iPhone 6 users will get the opportunity to upgrade to a new Apple handset, Mac Rumors reported.

According to John Legere, president of T-Mobile, customers of the company have been clamoring for the inclusion of Apple Music in the carrier's Music Freedom program.

This paid plan from T-Mobile lets users stream music content from over 30 services including Google Music, SiriusXM, Xbox Music, Spotify, Rhapsody, Pandora, iHeartRadio and SoundCloud.

Recently, T-Mobile users' suggestions, the company has decided to include Apple Music in the list.

"Apple Music has become the single most requested new addition to Music Freedom and counts for a full 80 percent of the requests coming in via Twitter," Legere wrote in a press release. "I heard every one of them, so it's happening right now."

"Apple Music is a huge addition to Music Freedom," he added. "Millions and millions ofpeople are already using Apple Music, and it's set to shape the streaming music landscape - like Apple's done with just about everything they touch."

As part of the program, users will be able to stream music from Apple Music, or from any of T-Mobile's partnered services, for free. But before doing so, they'll first have to settle a one-time payment fee for the Music Freedom plan.

Aside from this, Legere also mentioned that T-Mobile has update its Jump! On Demand trade-in program.

According to the executive, those who will purchase an iPhone 6 from the carrier, with a monthly payment plan of $15, will be automatically eligible to trade in their current handsets for a new smartphone from Apple once it is released.

Also, even though they will receive n upgraded iPhone model, their payment plan will still remain the same at $15 a month.

T-Mobile is also offering iPhone 6 owners priority access once they register for the trade-in program within 48 hours after the new generation of iPhones arrive for the carrier.

Legere, however, did not mentioned the specific Apple smartphone model that consumers can get. But, since various sources are already reporting that the Cupertino-based tech giant is preparing to unveil the next iteration of the iPhone 6 in September, specifically the iPhone 6S, then this could be the model that will be featured in T-Mobile's Jump! On Demand program.
