Sony Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra Specs & Features Leaked Before Official Launch

The new information regarding the handsets came from Russian tech news site hi-tech.mail.ru. However, as noted by GSM Arena, the article regarding the smartphones was immediately taken down.

Fortunately, various sources were able to obtain the images of the device before they were removed.

Past leaks regarding the Xperia C5 Ultra indicated that the handset will sport a near bezel-less design. According to recently released details, the bezels of the handset measures 0.8mm. This minimalist design further enhances the screen size of the smartphone which sits at 6 inches.

The new reports also mentioned that the Xperia C5 Ultra sports a 13-megapixel main camera. Sony also upgraded the handset's selfie snapper to 13 megapixels with front-facing flash, which is a significant change compared to the Xperia C4's 5-megapixel front shooter.

For its processor, the upcoming Xperia model comes with the Mediatek 6752 chipset. It packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage.

According to the Russian site, the Xperia C5 Ultra could go on sale with a price range of $340 to $360.

As for the Xperia M5, the Xperia Blog noted that it appears similar to Sony's Xperia Z3+. However, the upcoming model sports a slightly smaller display size at 5 inches with a 1080p screen resolution.

It is powered by the 2GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor from MediaTek and packs 3GB of RAM. Like the Xperia C5 Ultra, the Xperia M5 comes with 16GB of RAM which can also be expanded using a microSD card.

For its camera configuration, Sony equipped the Xperia M5 with a 21.5-megapixel rear snapper with Exmor RS sensor paired with a 13-megapixel front shooter.

The device, which will be released in gold, black and silver variants, also has waterproof and anti-dust certifications. It is expected to have a retail price of $390 to $406.

Both the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 are expected to be officially unveiled by Sony during a special event scheduled on August 3.

To promote the event, Sony teased through Twitter that the new Xperia device is capable of capturing split-second photos. A previous report on the Xperia Blog speculated that the upcoming handset might be equipped with the Sony Exmor RS IMX230 sensor, which uses 192 auto-focus points to accurately keep track of moving subjects.
