‘Clash of Clans’ Update Prevents Gamers from Using Lightning Spells to Steal Loot

Development studio Supercell has recently released a new update for its popular strategy-based "Clash of Clans" mobile game.

Some of the update's features include the Level 5 Dragon and a restriction that prevents players from stealing from their enemies using the lightning spell.

Before the update was released earlier this month, players were able to take their enemies' loot by destroying the elixir storage using lightning spells.

Instead, players can only use the same spell to take down enemy forces and the resource collectors. According to a report by the Master Herald, this restriction was implemented in order to deliver a more balanced game play between gamers.

Another new addition to the game is the Level 5 Dragon. This unit can be acquired through Town Hall 10 for eight million elixir. Town Hall 9 players, on the other hand, can now access the Level 4 Dragon.

Aside from these, Supercell also lessened the training time for various spells. Instead of 30 minutes, the time to brew healing and lightning spells will now take 20 minutes.

The developer also lessened the training time for jump, rage and freeze spells by 15 minutes.

The update also comes with a few improvements for the game's artificial intelligence.

Now, troops including Barbarian Kings and Archer Queens will no longer attack unnecessary walls. They will also stop attacking a target hidden behind a wall if it is already destroyed.

The interface for the Barracks and Spell Factory was also changed through the update. It now features a new menu for spells and troops being used in battles as well as a training army button located above the Attack tab.

During the same time as the release of the recent update, Supercell addressed another issue about an unfair strategy used by some players.

According to Reality Today, some gamers dump trophies in order to gain an advantage over their opponents in the lower levels of the game. The site noted that the developer has already released a separate update for this issue that penalizes trophy-dumping players.

"Clash of Clans" was first released by the Finland-based game developer for iOS devices in August of 2012. It then came out for the Android platform in October of the following year.

Upon its release, the game immediately caught the attention of mobile gaming fans due to its game play quality and multiplayer mode that lets them play with their friends.
